About the buyer: The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG) invites expressions of interest from experienced mega events production companies to provide production services for the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
Watched by a worldwide audience of one in three people, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games set the tone of the Games and will make a cultural and sporting statement to the world about London and the UK. The Ceremonies will welcome the world to London by celebrating our past, present and future. They will recognise the competing athletes and celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic values and spirit of friendship in a spectacular display of colour, excitement and ingenuity.
About the Opportunity: LOCOG is seeking a highly experienced mega events production company, preferably with Olympic experience, with which to set up a cost effective and efficient operating structure through which production services for the four ceremonies are delivered. The company or agency and/or its key individuals will need to demonstrate a proven record in the production of large scale events or Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies.
Detail of how the operating structure may be configured, how it will dovetail with the creative team, and the process for delivering the ceremonies will form the subject and content of the subsequent tender documentation
This opportunity seeks to recruit a company to provide the administrative, production and creative realisation services to the Creative Director(s) and Senior producer(s) for the ceremonies who will be employed directly by LOCOG through a separate process. Therefore this opportunity is not a solicitation of ideas or concepts for the Ceremonies. Rather it is an invitation to experienced organisations to demonstrate their experience in this field to LOCOG.
About the buyer's selection process: In addition to responding to these questions on CompeteFor, applicants should be prepared to provide a 5 page document providing supporting evidence to their responses by date, in the event of being shortlisted.
This should include: - a short biog of your organisation; - short biogs of the team who would lead your London 2012 programme; - supporting evidence to your responses on CompeteFor questions in the form of case studies demonstrating experience in this field.
For further information on this opportunity, go to https://www.competefor.com/london2012business/login.jsp and complete a profile.
LOCOG expects to release the full invitation to tender, receive submissions and shortlist companies before Christmas 2009. Successful companies will be asked to present in early January 2010. It is expected that the operational structure will be operational from April 1 2010.
